Current Issues
- If you discover conflicts not listed here, please report them on our forums in the Questions and Help section for Sim Settlements 2.
- Sim Settlements 2 replaces the functionality of all previous mods. Sim Settlement's expansions have been, or potentially will be, incorporated into Sim Settlements 2 over time. Add-Ons made for Sim Settlements require conversion to be compatible with Sim Settlements 2.
¶ NW-Raiders and Robots happiness fixes by Area051
- Replaces Workshop.pex script, so it's incompatible with Sim Settlements, Sim Settlements 2, Workshop Plus, and Workshop Framework, and likely several other mods.
- Impacts/blocks workshop scripts causing issues with assigning settlers to some plots
- Possible workaround could be placing Problems of the Survivor before Workshop Framework and making it a master file
- Is incompatible with Workshop Framework, includes a WorkshopParentObject script that breaks Workshop Framework, Conqueror and SS2.
- Modifies vanilla workshop scripts that are replaced by Workshop Framework.
- Adds a script function with the same name, but a different purpose, as one used by Workshop Framework.
¶ Conquest - Build New Settlements and Camping
- Conquest uses its own workshop management scripts, so Sim Settlements 2's plots do not work in Conquest settlement locations.
- causes a crash at our HQ cell
- Replaces vanilla furniture assets with assets that have not been created correctly with collision - causes issues with buillding plan plots that use those assets
- Replaces vanilla furniture assets with assets that have not been created correctly with collision - causes issues with buillding plan plots that use those assets
- "Ghoul overhaul" mods, such as D.E.C.A.Y may not work properly for quests in Sim Settlements 2, such as HUB of the Problem.
¶ Disable Dialogue Camera (vanilla setting option) and any mods that disable or modify the Dialogue Camera
- Sim Settlements 2 requires the Dialogue Camera for its scenes and quests to run correctly. If you disable or modify the Dialogue Camera, you may not be able to complete certain quests and content.
¶ Any mod that sets the vanilla settlement build limit to -1 (Build High - Expanded Settlements 5.0, Settlement Limits Slashed, etc)
- Can cause the tutorial plots in the tutorial quests of Sim Settlements 2 (Laying Foundations, Plotting the Future, etc.) to fail to build, preventing these quests from progressing.
- Any mods that skip vanilla main story quests may trigger issues with Sim Settlements 2.
- For example, the Minutemen rescue in Concord may be skipped in mods like SKK Fast Start Minutemen, other SKK mods, Start Me Up, etc. If using any of these mods, you may have to use the cheat console command to skip past the first SS2 quest in order to complete the questline. See the I'm stuck on part of the main quest section of the Trouble Shooting Guide for the console command.
- Quest Tagging (modifying the name of Sim Settlements 2 quests) using Item Sorters will cause issues (breaking quests, CTDs). So far, the following quests: "Who Can? ASAM!", "It Came From Planet X", and "Hub of the Problem" have been reported and validated as impacted when tagged.
Other mods that may cause issues, but require further investigation:
- Faction Redux
- Raiders, Gunners, or Ghouls
- Transfer Settlements would require code changes to be compatible with Sim Settlements 2. Transfer Settlements can still be used for Blueprints that do not contain Sim Settlements 2 plots. We recommend using Workshop Framework's Layout system for this functionality, but even then the plots are fundamentally different now and layouts for the original Sim Settlements likely won't work for Sim Settlements 2.
- An NPC named P8-62, from this mod, will become hostile when she identifies a synth infiltrator at Headquarters and agros all HQ staff when she attacks the synth infiltrator.
Workaround: Avoid recruiting P8-62 for HQ.
¶ CHEF - Cooking Hunger and Expanded Food
- Modifies vanilla scripts, HC Manager scripts which impacts survival mode gameplay, has workshop framework files embedded in ba2 files so likely affects Workshop Framework scripts
- Flicker Fixer conflicts with some interior SS2 cells and other mods' interior and exterior cells, causing player and/or npcs to sink through floors (example: Concord interior for the house across from Caleb's in Concord)
- Turning off the Dialogue Camera with Full Dialogue Interface can break several of Sim Settlements 2's quests and prevent progression. As long as you do not disable the Dialogue Camera, the mod appears to work fine with Sim Settlements 2.
- Some RobCo Patcher mods utilize .ini files that filter and patch weapons using NONE or keyword filters rather than specifying plugins. These mods will cause issues with many weapons and objects in SS2 where quests cannot be completed, or a weapon added by SS2 is not visible or working correctly
Impacts: Stheno in Outside Assistance, LLP Carbine in Laser Love and other SS2 objects which use weapon records.
Notice: Robco Patcher .ini files are not visible in a plugins.txt or modlist.txt file or visible in XEdit as they make their edits in runtime, so troubleshooting assistance is not possible.
If you are using a mod created with Robco Patcher and you're having an issue as a result, contact the mod author and tell them something in it is breaking your game. SS2 Devs and support team are unable to assist.

- These settlements may put too much of a load on this already highly populated part of the map, causing script lag.
- These mods may break game precombines, causing performance issues.
- Scrap Everything should not be used when creating City Plans.
¶ Clean and Simple
- You should avoid loading Clean and Simple for any settlement you want to have Sim Settlements 2 build automatically using a City Plan. The other features should work fine.
- You should avoid loading All Settlements Extended for any settlement you want to have Sim Settlements 2 build automatically using a City Plan. The other features should work fine.
- You should avoid loading mods that significantly alter vanilla settlement locations (i.e., mods that change the land shape or change the existing structures) that you want to have Sim Settlements 2 build automatically using a City Plan. The other features should work fine.
Examples of these mods that are known to cause issues:
- Clean and Simple - Settlement Startup
- Start Me Up
- A Unique NPC, Travis Dank, is not supported for recruitment through a lead from The Ron. If the player gets a lead from The Ron for this NPC, the NPC is unresponsive and no further leads from The Ron are possible. Console commands to attempt to fix this issue are not successful.
- Custom Companions that employ their own companion system, and do not use the vanilla companion system may cause issues with Sim Settlement 2 quests, by interrupting quest dialogue or preventing quest progression. To work around these issues, dismiss your custom companion before starting a SS2 quest.
Issue: SS2 NPCs who have their own personalized weapon appear wearing 2 weapons.
Solution: Modify your ClassicHolsteredWeaponsConfig.ini file.

- Chapter 2 of Sim Settlements 2 shares several locations with Depravity.
If you find yourself unable to access a quest location for Depravity because the doorway is taking you to a different location, open the City Manager 2078 holotape, then go to Tools > Hijack. From here you can toggle any of the Chapter 2 quest doors on or off in order to gain access to other doors that share the space.
- Patch Available for this! Chapter 2 of Sim Settlements 2 shares a location with Gun For Hire. You can disable the SS2 door by opening the City Manager 2078 holotape, then go to Tools > Hijack. From here you can toggle any of the Chapter 2 quest doors on or off in order to gain access to other doors that share the space.
- Sim Settlements 2 requires a patch to work with Horizon. There are two third party patches (use one or the other, not both), if you should have issues with the patches, please report them on their respective pages. You can download them here:
(SS2) Sim Settlements 2 - Horizon Patch
- This mod applies an effect to NPCs and will break SS2 quests. A compatibility patch is required to prevent PANPC from modifying SS2 NPCs.
The mod, compatibility patch and mod support is available on GreslinGames Discord Server
These are fundamental, engine level limitations only:
- Wires will not be placed in City Plans
- Power Tools are not available on Xbox because those features rely on F4SE
