While there are countless mods that may compliment Sim Settlements 2 well, we want to highlight a small handful that can vastly improve your building experience.
We will not be adding any add-on packs or other mods which add building assets to your workshop to this list. The intention of this list is to avoid popularity contests or subjective measurements. The mods below simply add extraordinarily helpful functionality to the workshop or fix what is broken/limited by Fallout 4 itself.
- Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch - Fixes bugs in Fallout 4 that Bethesda did not. Always recommended at the top of your mod load order.
- Buffout 4 - Fudgyduff - It fixes engine bugs and adds a crash logger to the game. Helpful for determining why your Fallout 4 crashed. Recommended for all PC players.

- Faster Workshop - Workshop Lag Fix – Drastically decreases the time it takes for Workshop Mode to load. Particularly helpful if you have numerous mods that add assets to the Workshop menus. Requires F4SE.
NOTE: Should not be used with Buffout 4. (Buffout 4 includes this fix).
- Baka ScrapHeap – Increases the Fallout 4 script data memory limit. Requires F4SE.
NOTE: Generally you will need this if you add a mod and it causes an infinite load screen when loading a save. If Buffout 4 is being used, additional edits to Buffout 4 ini files are required. Please read a Buffout 4 guide.
- Mod Configuration Menu (requires F4SE) - a settings page for mods. It provides a central location for mod configuration, accessible via the Pause menu.
- Canary Save File Monitor - Monitors your save file for data loss and warns you when you load the game so you can avoid wasting time playing on a busted save and roll back immediately.
- HUD Framework - UI Framework that allows mods to add new UI elements to the HUD.
- Workshop Framework - Framework to open up the settlement system to editing by the community.
- Fallrim Tools by markdf - This mod can help to identify Active Scripts. Please read mod description, requirements and installation instructions.
"I wouldn't advise anyone actually edit their saves with Fallrim, but its a great way to see if they have script lag so they can just park their character in a cell and let it clear up." - kinggath
