WARNING! This section of the wiki contains potential plot spoilers for the quests in Sim Settlements 2.
Commercial plots are what you will use to let your settlers set up businesses in your settlements. When fully developed, these businesses can sell a range of items including new content added by Sim Settlements 2, including pets.
Commercial plot vendors are controlled by the base game vendor system.
A level 1 commercial plot is the equivalent of the basic shop stall you can build in workshop mode. Plot vendors share an inventory with that system. Each vendor type has a separate set of goods to barter shared across all other shops of the same type in that settlement.
The amount of Caps available will likely vary each time the shop inventory resets. Settlement shop inventory resets every 48 hours.
¶ Requirements and Upgrading
You can start using commercial plots after they are unlocked in the Sim Settlements 2 quest New Plots on the Block.
Additionally, there are settlement requirements you will need to reach to build and upgrade Commercial plots. Once you have placed a Commercial plot, it will not start building until you have five or more Level 1 Residential plots in that settlement if your Commercial requirement is set to Homes which is the Default setting, or 5 Settlers if it is set to Population.
Plots that support more than one settler still only count as a single plot for this requirement.
If you are running out of room in the settlement, try using smaller sized plots - or you can change the requirement to Population in the settings.
City Manager Holotape: Options > Gameplay > Immersion > Commercial Requirement
Settings are Homes, Population or OFF
There are extra requirements for upgrading Commercial plots as well.
- To upgrade a plot to level 2 you will need 8 or more level 2 Residential plots in the settlement, or a Population of 8 or more Settlers.
- To upgrade a plot to level 3 you will need 11 or more level 3 Residential plots in the settlement, or a Population of 11 or more Settlers.
- If you have set the Commercial Requirement to OFF, these requirements do not apply.
Commercial Plot production can be improved by assigning Settlers with higher Charisma.
To train up your Settler, assign them to a Recreation Plot that trains Charisma.
