The Department Icons are the ones that display in Command Mode Project Options.
The Administration Department is in charge of maintaining the morale of staff, staff training, and the policies and procedures that govern how HQ runs.
The Administration Department uses the combined Charisma of its staff to determine how much work it can do each day.
Administration can run Events. When you build Bars or Lounges, Administration can have an Office Party Event.
Once you have built the Staff Training Room, Admin staff can run Training Events to train your HQ staff to make use of a Secondary Stat to increase energy available for their department, other than the one that directly benefits their Department.
By default a worker will contribute their department's primary stat as energy directly. For example, each facility worker will provide 1 energy per strength.
The training allows them to start contributing their other stats. The more trainings they "attend", the more of that stat they can contribute.
For example, let's say you run Biohazard Cleanup Training. Now all current Facilities staff will provide 1 additional energy. Then you run that training again, now all current Facilities staff with at least 2 perception will provide 2 additional energy. You run it a third time, now all current Facilities staff with at least 3 perception will provide 3 additional energy. etc.
The MAX bonus energy that can be earned for a particular settler is equal to their Secondary Stat.
On Rassignment from one department to another, if the settler has received training for the Secondary Stat for their old department, that training does not apply to the new department. If the settler is assigned back to their old department, their previous training will apply.

- When you view the numbers on the HUD in HQ, they won't change with these policies in place, but when you enter Command mode, you'll see your max increase.
- The idea is you can allow these numbers to go into the red, risking disasters. Bit of a risk/reward system when you just want to push the limits and get more projects done.
The Engineering Department is in charge of upgrade projects and assists Facilities with more advanced construction and planning technical designs.
In addition, they are in charge of the Power and Water distribution in HQ, so the more Engineering staff HQ has, the more Power and Water can be used each day by HQ for various projects.
The Engineering Department uses the combined Perception of its staff to determine how much work it can do each day.

The Logistics Department is in charge of coordinating supplies for HQ, maintaining relationships with traders, and keeping communications running.
In addition, Logistics manages caravans for HQ, so the more Logistics staff HQ has, the more scrap and food can be used each day by HQ for various projects.
The Logistics Department uses the combined Endurance of its staff to determine how much work it can do each day.
The Security Department is in charge of maintaining the safety of the staff, protecting the facility, and preventing theft of supplies.
In addition, they handle the moving of valuables to HQ's Treasury Vault, so the more Security staff HQ has, the more Caps can be spent each day by HQ for various projects.
The Security Department uses the combined Agility of its staff to determine how much work it can do each day.
You will be able to chose who to send on the Mission. If you do not, Security Staff will be chosen for you.
